Active Volcano Pics

These are some picture's taken on a recent trip to an active volcano called White Island. It lies just 15 miles offshore to where i currently live in New Zealand.

Those are interesting. It looks like i see a handrail in one picture, how did you get to the island? I see the helicopter, did you have to hike up to the top or use the copter?

We went out by boat, then we were transferred to a small rubber dingy and then had to climb a small handrail up onto the island.

The choppers were from the local airport. Some of which were doing research work, putting up cameras and sizmographs to measure quakes.

You can fly out over the island but it is major expensive.
