Looks like the PS3 will hit on Nov 17th for $499. It will include a 20G hard drive. Sign me up!

*EDIT - It looks like the 20G bundle will be $499. There will also be a 60G bundle for $599.

Also, the controller is going to be just like the PS2 version:

More details are coming out. It looks like the $499 version is a very stripped model, and almost everyone will be going after the $599 premium version. If you get the basic model, you lose this over the premium model:

- You lose 40GB (20GB base vs. 60GB)
- You lose HDMI output
- You lose MemoryStick / SD / CompactFlash slots
- You lose 802.11 b/g wireless

I don't think the target with the PS3 is kids. The target now is the people that grew up on the NES, spent their teenage years on the PS1/2, and now are 20 and 30-somethings where that price tag doesn't bother them.

Yea it's expensive, but take a look at stand-alone Blu Ray players and that puts it into perspective.

That's a risky way to think about it, considering that Blu-ray could be the format to fade away out of blu-ray and hd-dvd.

More info on the controller:

Little dissapointed, was looking forward to see how the boomerang controller was going to be like. I doubt I am going to get PS3, perhaps after it goes down. I do have enough money, but it seems a little high. Blu-ray dvds won't really be necessary for awhile, so I could care less about comparing it to Blu-ray players.

I think the normal controller is a good place to start. If they have others like the Boomerang as an optional extra then at least we can choose.

Well PC's are upgradeable and do more than just play games.

I would rather buy a PC and play the games and do more with it then a PS3.

I going for a super system very soon anyway for games w/ a dual PCI-Express ATI Radeon X1900 XTX / 512MB etc.

It will be for games and for rendering 3D animation things I do at home.

The ATI Radeon X1900 XTX / 512MB etc is good for rendering and for games.

After playing the PS3...I was blown away. I did not have the same feeling after playing the XBox at the last E3 convention.

Wow if it did that to you then it might be worth looking into it Term. Thanks for the update and if possible give me more detail if you can in what you saw and it's features. I know my nephews would want to get it for the holidays.

Thx Term

PS3 I will not be getting it instead I will be buying a good system that can play the games and for there school work etc, for my nephews.

I find it useless to get it especially when you can't upgrade a PS3 but you can with a system and can do much more besides games.

I should have about £200 left over after I get the PS3 :D :P

Although I’ll probably buy it with one of the launch titles included, speaking of launch titles, does anybody know what they are?
