Why is everyone so sure that this is a bad thing? Every freakin' tool that google has made that I've used has been an incredibly well done, useful tool. If I had to guess, I would think that if something is gonna disappear, it'd be Google Videos, not YouTube.

How do you figure? There are at least a few thousand search engines that you're free to use. The fact that whatever high percentage of the market uses google is based on teh fact that Google does it best. Having your hands in many different industries (search engine, video, chat, email, etc) doesn't make them a monopoly. Certainly you still have a choice in all these fields. Besides...as far as I know, everything Google does is still free. The whole point of a monopoly is that if there are no other options, you can force the market around for any price. But Google is free...so doesn't that kinda void the whole issue?

It's more the privacy I concern about by google....

Their products are great, but to many lines involved why they are allowed to search your posts, e-mail etc. etc.

I worry simply that google will immediately start spitting adds in before the movie like on CNN's video. Its incredably annoying, no one ever pays attention, and it merely delays the showing of the movie.

Here's to you Youtube, that made video great, and here's to you Google, hoping you don't kill it (or keep track of the sheep porn we all watch on it  )

Well, I think this will happen in some form.

I wish I'd thought of the idea for YouTube, I'd love to be filthy rich at age 27...

I agree with that too.
