I'm more of a child of the 60's and 70's: I still remember when there were actual cigarette commercials on tv; "Come to where the flavor is... come to Marlboro Country!" with the rugged cowboy overlooking his herd of steers with a Marlboro hangin' out one corner of his mouth. Back then, that looked so cool.... too bad that actor died from lung cancer later....

Not only did I read goosebumps...I owned the first like 53 of them!

That's a great list!

Well this is a story all about how my life got flip-turned upside down. I'd like to take a minute...

Fraggle Rock: season 1 is out on DVD now and I am SO tempted to get it. I have a punk-rock remake of the theme song from that.

Yea all of those would apply to me. I came to the US in '95 when some of the trends mentioned were dying out and new ones were beginning. I don't think much has changed since then. People still own boomboxes and CD players. TV is still full of stupid shows which may or may not have gotten stupider. I really enjoyed gaming back then, all of the Genesis games seemed so much cooler back then than games out nowadays. Things seem to have gotten so much more complex now with life in general and one can't help but feel some nostalgia when looking over that list (if they are in fact a child of the 90's). Part of it has to do with maturing but I think another part has to do with how time goes by and we wish that we had retained some element from our former lives that we could take with us.

Good thread.

I remember back when I was a salesmen at a retail appliance store and we used to sell that game to people when they came in to get those fast 286mhz machines.

Gumby has been around longer than I have.

Pinky and the Brain, Rocko's Modern Life, and Spongebob Squarepants were the best cartoons ever. Spongebob's friend Patrick gets the best supporting actor award - he cracked me up. All had great sidekicks though.
