Erm well obviously that was wasn't exactly Darwin's theory. Don't blame him for your conflicted nature. At the end of Origin of Species Darwin himself said that he didn't want his theory to upset anyone or to refute their faith in God or the idea of creationism.

Mind you it was only a theory and all theories could possibly be disproven. Darwin published his work over 100 years ago. If anyone believes that it represents the world today then they are truly mistaken.

I'm assuming that was sarcastic, although I'm not really sure. Knowing SP's style, that was a bash against the creationists and their unwillingness to give any serious thought to evolution. This could have been turned around to mock the creationist theory pretty easily too to make the evolutionists and their views look ridiculus and narrow minded.
