how are you cleaning startup?
if you want to see if anything was left over from something that you uninstalled but still in startup goto...
start
run----type regedit
goto-hkey local machine--software--microsoft--windows--current version--and now look for (run) (runonce) (runonceex)
these are where your programs are instructed to start upon boot.
becarefull you do not delete something you need. if you do on accident, just reinstall the program and it should reset.

might not be a bad thing to turn some stuff off in msconfig if you have a lot of things loading in your system tray in the lower right hand corner. That has saved me some boot up time.
