I'm not convinced this is big news, b/c I'm not convinced either format will ever do more than nothing. I think DVD will stay popular, and eventually something else will end up being the next big thing, not blue-ray or HD-DVD.

i can't entertain the idea of playing $30 for a movie...I don't care how pretty it looks, lol, so yea, you are probably right bob

50GB discs would be pretty useful, for me at least.

But are you talking a data/storage medium, or a media medium?

I'm saying that I don't think te HD-DVD or Blue-ray will catch on as the next "DVD" for media distrobution. Frankly, I think it won't be long before everything goes to digital distribution and such. One or two more step ups in the speed of our internet.

For storage.

For movies and media, no I dont think they should switch to Bluray
I've seen the quality of the movies on blu ray and i dont see any difference at all
