"It said the devices were part of an outdoor marketing campaign in 10 American cities for an animated television show "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" produced by its Adult Swim brand."

I'm wondering if some of the blame couldn't be shared by the City worker(s) that decided that this was a bomb in the first place.

Granted they probably should have gotten a permit to hang these things from bridges, that might have solved the problem.

blame the city workers? not at all

in this day and age where you have the constant threat of a large scale, coordinated attack against the USA, Britain, ect.....what kind of an idiot decides to go ahead and put boxes with batteries and wires hanging off them in a major city? Something like this probably would have run unnoticed 10 years ago, but in the modern world this just can't fly. Hope some serious penalties are handed out for the trouble they caused

I agree somewhat with you Caged but if you saw this, would you think it was a bomb? I may be way off base here but I don't see it even remotely looking like a bomb....more like a circuit board with lights.

Looks like someone could have done a better job designing those boards.

My question is anyone with half a brain would have contacted the city first?

Well worth the pub they are getting for $500,000 or even million. In the long run that show will get a big boost in ratings for a few weeks, and deep down the dudes that came up with this campaign are thinking, wow did we get a lot of bang for a buck.
