The article is very technical and examines the architecture of the new chip. Seems like a good read but I think I'd need just a bit more background knowledge to understand all of it.

Requires atleast 700-750 watt PSU with over 40ish amps on the 12v rail for the ati HD 2900XT (r600)

those sure are some insane requirements compared to nvidia's 8800GTX requirements which are ..

Minimum of a 450 Watt power supply.
Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating is 28 Amps.

Good read! Thanks!

I'll be currious to see how the mobile chips do. I'm still partial to lap tops

Hmm that doesn't seem to follow. The 750 Watt PSU is probably for two 2900XTs in a Crossfire configuration. Taken from a Gamespot article:

"AMD recommends having a 550W power supply unit for a single card and a 750W power supply for a dual-card CrossFire setup"

To me a CF or an SLI configuration still seems like a huge waste of money.

Yeah it was the CF edition

so scratch that , but still 550W ? thats still a hog and yeah i wouldnt waste money on SLI or CF
