I ran across these pictures a while back and decided I'd share

The first one is a very high resolution picture of the aftermath of the great San Francisco EarthQuake back in 1906. Blow it up to full size and check out the detail...

San Francisco in Ruin, 1906 (http://www.bobsplanet.net/images/San_Francisco_in_ruin_edit2.jpg)

The second is the absolutely most amazing photo ever, in my opinion. This photograph is a super high resolution picture of the largest group of visible galaxies in the sky. It was taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and took over 11 days to expose! This image captures objects so far away that it took literally over 10 billion years for the light to get here. Every little dot in this picture is a galaxy. Imagine the number of stars or planets...or possible life in this picture. Hard to get your mind around...

I've seen the hubble one before. It was actually pointed at a blank point in sky to see if they left the shutter open for a million seconds what (if anything) was there? That's what they found when they developed the film. Amazing!!

here is extra high resolution, it has only 112megs  but its not that nice, when you zoom in you see a lot of background noise and not so many details

My thoughts exactly! From the angle it would appear to have been taken from an aircraft with a wide angle lense. Which even makes it more amazing. Looking at the title block it says "taken from Lawrence Captive Airship"

Ok....not an airship, but an array of 17 kites to keep the 64 pound camara 2000' in the air. Now that's impressive

See the history here George Lawrence (http://www.bigshotz.co.nz/george_lawrence.html)
