External HD

I bought an external HD, when I plugged it in, XP said "device ready for use". Problem is I can't open it neither does it appear in the list of "my computer".

When I open device manager it's installed with the comment "device is working properly" and showed in the same category as my original HD. I reinstalled it, did a reboot but nothing seems to work.

Under the device manager it known as "....usb mass storage"

So if anyone can help.... plz :D

This will probably do it:

Right click on My computer, select "Manage"

When it pops up, double click on "Disk management" under "Storage".

You'll probably see the external drive listed on the right w/o a letter.

Right click on it and click "Change drive letter and path" and set the letter for it.

Thanks, it was nice to look around in there also. I don't remember ever looking in Disk Management.
