So I reformatted and am trying to get it set where I can just turn my rig on and it will automaticly login and go to my desktop. I have set it in users, in the control panel. I also have powertoys for xp, and set it in there. Once I do both of those, it might work a few times, but this morning when I fired up, there it was waiting for me to click my name before logging in.

Not sure, but maybe I am missing something, it keeps reverting back to having to click my name.

Any ideas?

Here's an article describing what to do in User Accounts, but it sounds like you've already tried that.

Here's an article that describes how to do this directing in the registry...maybe the User Acct GUI isn't actually doing this, for some reason?

Sorry I can't help you more, but thanks to profs in college, I always lock my computers with super oddball passwords. I've never had a machine with more than 1 user, but the first thing I do is turn it on so that I have to log in.

i believe its a security policy enacted through a windows update

noticed my system would boot straight up after a format, but after i updated it started asking for a PW
