According to the story, the demo should be out soon, hopefully before Aug 21, the release date for the game. The 360 demo came out yesterday, but the PC version is still being tested to make sure it'll work with drivers, etc etc. You'd think that would have already been done, considering the game is due out in 8 days, but apparently not  In any case:

WHAT ABOUT A BIOSHOCK PC DEMO?
August 13, 2007
After the appearance of the BioShock Demo on Xbox 360™ last night, I’m sure many of you PC fans wondered, “What about us?”

Here’s the deal.

A BioShock PC Demo IS coming. We tried as hard as humanly possible to get it out to you guys simultaneously with the 360 demo, but we needed to make sure that it was perfect -- that all drivers were ready, and that the game looked great on a huge variety of computers.

Currently, the PC demo in its final stages of testing and approval. We are pushing to get it out to you as soon as possible. It will be out during the month of August, and everyone is working at full capacity to deliver it to you before the game hits store shelves on August 21st. I will also let you know as soon as I have an exact date for the demo's release, so please stay tuned.

I cannot express enough how sorry I am for the wait. Thank you for understanding and your patience. Just remember -- only eight days left till you get your hands on the full game.

I’ll let you know where to get the demo as soon as it becomes available.

Never having played the first one, what's the "feel" of this series?

This is the first one. The System Shock games bear some resemblance to Bioshock in that they contain some RPG elements.

Bioshock will have a very real and interactive atmosphere. You can customize your weapons and use special powers called plasmids to ignite bad guys, use telekinetic powers, freeze someone, etc. The game will be entirely based upon the choices that you make as a player. For instance you cannot simply run-and-gun; instead you will need to use the tools that you possess in order to stay alive and find the "secret" of the engineered underwater world known as Rapture.

I really liked the demo, but there's still something about it I kinda don't like. Still, I'm probably going to get this launch day.

I tried the Xbox 360 demo last night and I can already tell that the game has alot of potential. Everything in the game is dynamic. From the story line to the environments and all of the enemies and objects you can pretty much "choose" what to do next and it will have a very real impact on how you progress throughout the game.

I find it amazing that the developers were able to incorporate over 70 different plasmids into the game. The demo lets you try out the electro-bold and the ignite plasmids, both of which are very fun and easy to use. I will definitely look into picking this up for the 360 which I have recently purchased for my brother as a b-day present.

Also, apparently both ATI and NVidia are releasing new drivers for improved performance for BioShock.

Here are the NVidia betas that were released for it: http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_rel70betadriver.html

I didn't look up the ATI ones b/c I don't have an ATI and couldn't care less about them. You'll have to look them up yourselves. Sorry ATI users ;)

Why? Most people download demos to see if they will end up buying the game or not in the longrun. Most stores will probably be all sold out of Bioshock tomorrow because the true fans don't need a demo to convince them to buy the game.

no, but people without a 360 may want to see how its gonna play

and at this point why even bother releasing the damn thing, hence the way to suck part

Game of the year and its not even released yet.

The reviews are going mad, without them this game wouldn't be such a hit. More than half the people that I talked to said they weren't going to get it till they heard about its awesomeness.
