Hi, here you go, a little headache for fun :)

Some young boy from a countryside was browsing a windows of shops one day, till he saw a cheap and good looking bike in a window screen.
The bike costs 25$ and by tomorrow it will cost 50$
As the shop closes after an hour he quickly ran back to house to ask parents some lend of money.
Father gave him 12,5$
Mother gave him 12,5$ too
So together that makes exactly 25$.
Boy ran back to shop and yes he made it in time.
Shopkeeper seen how much boy wants that bike and released the price of it to 20$ just for him
Ok, now boy returns home with a bike and 5$ in his pocket
He gives back 1$ to his dad and 1$ to his mother
Now he owes them 11,5$ each
And that leaves 3$ in his pocket

11,5$ + 11,5$ = 23$
23$ + 3$ = 26$

where did 1$ came from? :)

Money coming in:
12.50 from father
12.50 from mother +
---------------------
25.00 total.

Money going out:
20.00 for bike
1.00 to father
1.00 to mother +
----------------------
22.00 total

25.00
22.00 -
---------
3.00 left.

what is the point of adding how much he owes them ($23) and how much he has left ($3). they aren't related to each other. that would mean yes EricC is correct.
