Well, the girlfriend really wants to play it, I installed it and get the error in the screenshot.

My card is still a radeon 9800 pro. and the system shouldnt have any problems, ive updated all the drivers i can think of, but still get the error. Any ideas?

Not sure if this is in the right place or not either.

Have you updated the game and the DirectX drivers, too?

Failing to create the 3d device is pretty nasty. That means that either you don't have a device with the capabilities it was asking for or it wasn't "available" for that mode.

Run the DXDiag program and take a look at what it says in the capabilities section. I assume that you have rebooted, uninstalled the game and reinstalled, etc.
