ANSWER: 1/16.

Starting with 1/8 and looking at every other fraction, you have 1/8, 1/10, 1/12, 1/14 and 1/16, with the denominator increasing by 2 with each step. The other sequence begins with 1/15: 1/15, 1/12, 1/9, 1/6 and 1/3, with the denominator decreasing by 3 with each step.
