Damn, I love this. nVidia needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat now. Bad for them, very good for us. I love the competition that these two companies have. :wootrock:

I had read that - and I know any devoted hardware junkies are drooling, can you imagine a card superior to the 9700 Pro, plus backed by 256 megs o' RAM? I hope WHOCARES is a little high, on the price, but he may be right. I used a converter for this: 400 Euro = 432.760 US Dollar, and another article states that they will keep the 128-meg version below the 400-Euro mark. So, I could easily see the 256-megger at $475. Luckily for me, I'm not looking to upgrade my video card soon, so I hope I can get a 256-meg card for a reasonable price by, say, Christmas, or next spring.
THIS (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=7582) article about the R350 using the 'almost antiquated' DDR-1 memory confuses me - they talk about the 128-bit bus limitation, but are they talking about DDR-2, or DDR-1? Since the 9700s use a 256-bit bus, I have to think they are talking about the DDR-2, but that doesn't make sense, or does it?

I think I'd be happy with a plain-jane, without all that vid in-out stuff. Up to 40% faster than a 9700 Pro? WOW.

I have given up on nVidia. I read that earlier at work and decided I am going to wait until May and get the 9900.
I also read that the FX cards that were supposed to be around yesterday aren't. They are going to have to pull more than a rabbit out of their hat to beat ATI anytime soon.

"....brother, can you spare a dime to a high-quality video card producer who's down on his luck....?"

I haven't given up on them, as they have had the ability to amaze before, but they are up agin it. The FX has 'issues', I think; the need for monster cooling, the noise, the power suck, and moreover, production - the card itself. Plus, at least from advance reviews, we know it will be in competition with, and lose often to, the 9700 Pro, at a higher price when it does get here. Then, ATI will man-ho biotch-slap it with the R350 9800, and the 9900 will just smack it worse. I doubt I'll be able to stomach 4-bills for a video card, but when they get down to $300 or so, I'll buy a toy.
