Not by much at all. A set of the SSC 740 clocked and the latest technology with a $200 + dollar saving... Seems like a no brainer.

Check the spec in this review

Or you could go for the ATI HD 3870 with 35+ more clock speed + 320 streaming processors compared to the 9600's 64 for only $5 more :)

From what I hear and read, the 9600GT outperforms the 3850. It also runs cooler.

If I were you, I'd get the 8800GT, they are very fast cards for the price. I'd get one, but I have no need to. When I build another computer, Ill probably get the new 9800GT's they will be coming out with.

Frag, considering your cards now, I see no reason to upgrade as your current cards will run about the same in sli mode give or take. Overall I would suggest the 3870 as chao suggested because they just dropped in price.

As of right now the card to have would be the 3870 x2 which is looking good considering most sites benched with the 8.1 drivers. at 450 bucks anyone can get crossfire on any board they have. I await the 8.3 driver which will support the crossfirex which will allow me to finally setup the spider platform I have sitting on a shelf.

Any of these cards will run the games we play so preference is what makes up your mind. If anyone is into very high resolution gameing along with a better visual experience, ATI is the solution. If all you do is game and want the highest FPS then NVidia is alway the best bet. IF I was to gamble I would say stick with ATI because it's going to make some suprises with not only drivers but with hardware solutions that NVidia can not keep up with in the long term.

OK thanks Dan

I was an ATI man up until 2 yrs ago when I got my first set of 7800 GTX's.
I decided to go with two 8800GT SSC for $279 each. My goal was to go to a single height card to regain my PCI slots on my MOBO.
