Generally a good, action-packed movie.
The premise is that a killer epidemic has spread through Scotland in 2008, and with no cure to be had, the UK decides to quarantine the entire country and let everyone die, hoping that the disease will die in the process. It doesn't of course, and 25 years later the epidemic starts anew in London.
It's discovered that there are survivors in Scotland, so an elite British team is sent into the quarantine zone determine how they survived and bring back a cure.
At first I was thinking - oh crap, another zombie movie. Fortunately it turns out that people actually die and stay dead, although once exposed to the disease people can be nasty, albeit briefly.
The first thing that comes to mind is the Mad Max movie series. If you like that sort of thing then you'll like Doomsday.
This isn't a thinker's movie. It's violent and gory - especially gory in one scene. There are the typical stupid things like people not following orders and doing stupid things, large heavily-armored personnel carriers that have windshields made of glass from Tru-Value Hardware, and large groups of crazy people who have supposedly survived for 25 years because they are the smartest and strongest running like lemmings into overwhelming machine-gun fire (screaming and waving an ax does not stop bullets - fall back and form a new plan, mmkay?)
It was entertaining though, a definite rental.
EDIT: The chick with the face tattoos is seriously hot. :)
