Alright, since BookMecca doesn't exist (yet? :P) I'll post it here...what are you favorite books ever?

I used to be huge on reading, but I havent' had the time until recently, when I discovered Audible.com I travel enough that I can pound out the audiobooks at a decent rate, and since you get a free book per month for the $15 subscription fee, Audible's a good deal.

Anyways, I just recently finished The Shining and my gosh, it's good. Got me thinking about what my favorites are...

My list would have to include...

Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
The Chamber by Grisham
Salem's Lot, The Stand,The Shining and the whole Dark Tower series By Stephen King

I'm sure more will pop up in my mind, but that's enough to get started.

I've always been a big fan of British humor.

I've got a dozen or so titles by P.G. Wodehouse whom I believe is the master of dry humor.

Of course, Douglas Adams as well - though while I like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series (Which the movie just utterly destroyed) I usually suggest starting with the less well known Dirk Gently series.

For fantasy type stuff I tend to stay pretty mainstream and pedestrian - Terry Brooks, Tolkien, etc.

Actually, I think all in all I stay pretty pedestrian with my book choices.

Johnny got his gun by Dalton Trumbo
one of the most disturbing things you will ever read
the 70s film adaptation is just as disturbing.

I recommend it to anyone

"John Adams" and "The Great Bridge" by David McCullough are great historical reads.

"Catcher in the Rye" has always been one of my favorites.

Stephen King, Koontz, and Grisham were all good suggestions. I would add Tom Clancy's novels to the list, he is a fantastic writer...
