Is religion expanding? Whether that be Christianity, Native Spirituality, Islam, Hinduism or whatever?

Compared to what exactly? Rationality? What's your point?

I think in certain regards religious thought and ideas do expand, but mainly through inheritance from generation to generation.

Pick a specific religion. Islam seems to be spreading quite rapidly. Native spirituality... not so much.

In my opinion, religion does no good if it's spread by force. People need to have a choice and be able to choose what they believe. The easiest way to do this is to simply go out and experience the world and see it for what it is. The best way to do this IMO is to accept that we all have a skewed view of truth and reality and work with that view instead of trying to rectify it with religion.

Religion's a tool, at least that's it's main use, it promotes fear or provides justification. It's also used as a business, people profit from it.

I'm not stating that for 100% of all religion or religious people, just a large amount *call this the D.E. clause in my statement*

Religion is dropping in educated Western society very rapidly but gaining momentum in uneducated third world countries in places like Africa. On a global level, since there are many billions more people in third world countries, religion is expanding.

There were surveys done recently that exemplify this.

Example of religion declining in Europe. The lower the percentage, the less people believe in an anthropomorphic god.

I wonder why only 16% of Estonians believe in a god *hmm*

Personally, I think the future of religion is a unitarian universalism approach and removal of dogmas that hinder the personal self-growth of the individual. Religions altogether will be a thing of the past and the focus of a person's life purpose would be for growth of the Self.

Hopefully, we won't have any more of these insane fundalemntalists: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZ9To30Hz7A

I am the grandson of a preacher, That having been said, My grandfather believed in his christian faith. I however am not so gullible, what I mean is ! I have watched the history channel, They provide proof that the Bible only tells half the story for their own benifeits. Someone decided to edit the real tellings, If there ever was. I personally think It was a way to try to get people to be civil. I have never considered myself an athiest, but the older I get, the more I am educated on the subject. My 2 cents.P.S. I hope I don't offend anyone.
