I know that you're just being facetious, but Googling every possible thing you're curious about doesn't really facilitate a community discussion. I'm sure Nitro knows how to use a search engine, but why not humor him by trying to describe what it is in your own words?

nobody much gets it. In simple terms it is essentially a newsgroup thread for emails. So you would create a wave and add others to it. All would be able to see it and add content to it. We do the same in forums. It is an extension of that type concept.

Sorry. I know it's not terribly funny and I was just being a dork which I thought would be mildly amusing.

Essentially, Google Wave is a mashup of Instant Messaging, Email, Message Boards and Collaborative Software.

At least, that's what it looks like from the various things I've read and from watching the video on the main page. Honestly it's still a bit of an assumption since I've not been able to use it directly.

This is a summary I found:

What is a wave?

A wave is equal parts conversation and document. People can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

A wave is shared. Any participant can reply anywhere in the message, edit the content and add participants at any point in the process. Then playback lets anyone rewind the wave to see who said what and when.

A wave is live. With live transmission as you type, participants on a wave can have faster conversations, see edits and interact with extensions in real-time.

I hope that sums it up a little better and sorry again for being a bit of a dork. :)

From what I've seen it's a lot like a mashup of all those things.

They are sort of presenting themselves as the ultimate in collaborative software.

well, sometimes it is laziness, but sometimes people have looked it up and want an answer from someone that is familiar with it. ok, and there is laziness also... :)
