I've been thinking of getting a GPS for my car, a real basic model. I was wondering how many of you have them, and how much do you use them & really need them.

Did you become dependent on it?

Black Friday has some sweet deals.

hope you picked one up. they are not the end-all and be-all, but damn they sure are great when you need to get somewhere and can't figure out how. they might have issues with new streets or subdivisions, but even so, putting in a nearby street is pretty good to get you to the general area, and with the ETA or distance remaining it helps keep you on track

i enjoyed mine quite alot. it can be off sometimes though in its directions, but it'll always tell you how to get back on track :P

I used to use one when I worked as a cable installer. very handy for that kind of work.

I have a Garmin and love it. It's felt like it's gotten me lost, but I always ended up right where I wanted to. Only thing to watch, I've had it say my desination is on one side of the road, when it's actually on the other side of the road.

Or could get the new Droid phone, that has GPS built in, with google maps. ;)

Here PE..jam this address in your GPS and I'll meet ya there next Saturday at noon

16 Tobey Rd. Bloomfield, CT 06002

me? I can still read a map..My father drove tractor-trailer coast-to-coast all his life, I think I inherited a sense of direction from the old boy..

I think it depends on your sense of direction. If you're pretty good with directions, you probably wouldn't use it as much. If you struggle to find your way across town, then it will be a godsend. I don't own one, but I rely pretty heavily on google maps before I leave the house to go somewhere that I'm not familiar with.

My wife bought me one when they first came out "Garmin" and they were very expensive. I now have it in the Mach1 and rarely drive that but do have the gps in my Lincoln built in and I will tell you they are always good for emergency along with traffic details. I usually use it to find a place to eat or store though.

I would not spend more than 200 bucks for one today.
