Isn't this the kind of situation we keep people like 007 around for to deliver some kind of awesome explosive device to cause the well to collapse and seal the problem? Somehow making a big metal box and putting it over the hole sounds ridiculous...

They have no idea how to fix it. Drilling a new hole will not fix it. I am afraid the gulf coast and most likely many other areas are screwed.

the issue is not the spill as much as where it is located. because of offshore banning the dig had to be put into deep water. what would be a trivial problem if it was in 1000' of water a couple of miles offshore becomes an engineering nightmare when it is 5000' underwater away from everything. that is why they are stuck "trying stuff" until they can get something that works.

They do have a way that has worked in the past before and should work this time but it is going to take awhile so they are also doing these other things in the meantime.

Watch the video, it's eerily similar to what is happening today

if you watch to the end of the video, they say they couldn't fix the problem in a well that was in 200' of water. now they have 5000' to deal with

I guess i'm interpreting it in a different way, @ about the 6:50 mark I took it as her saying that a relief well is guaranteed to work as it has in the past but it is still months away and then she went into her spew about them making it even harder or not able to stop spills now using the methods they just tried at the depths they are drilling at.

Anyway, that is too freaky how many parallels that the two periods in time have.

yeah, I see the same thing, but the issue will be getting equipment in place to dig that deep. because of all the bans I doubt the equipment is available.

And what is your perfect government? socialism? ie: a few people doing the actual work necessary to power society and everyone else doing the least amount possible? Tell me what country that has worked for?

ya, you are playing games again. The rule is pretty much survival of the fittest, and those in charge do pretty much whatever it takes to stay in power. Republicans want to push for personal responsibility, democrats want to take care of everyone. They both want to give whatever they can to the voters to guarantee themselves a seat for the next election. You can do the "elevate the global consciousness" bullshit all you want, but that is not the world we live in. Take for example one of the guys that helped cultivate farming techniques for 3rd world countries. He is credited with saving millions of people from starvation. That was good. But what did those people do? They went and had lots of babies, as many as possible, because that is the way of survival in that part of the world. So now instead of millions of people starving you will eventually have billions starving. It is sort of like trying to put out a fire by throwing gas on it.

So you have a capitalist society. Does it work? In a lot of ways yes, other ways no. What is enough? The survival of the fittest rule says that nothing is ever enough. Those that have plenty will always try to get more. Those that have nothing will either work to get more or take more if they can. You can change the dynamics of the equation by applying socialism, but ultimately those things do not change human nature. Look for example at how corrupt russia was with communism. Yeah, everybody had lots of great ideals. But people are lazy shits by nature. why work hard when you can take bribes?

You would think that surely some geek with a pocket protector sat there playing a game of "What if ....?" before they got the approval to drill this deep, but it sure doesn't look that way. The BP SoBs need to follow the damn rules and the corrupt MF'ers that got paid to look the other way need to be put in jail ... to Hell with it, jail they all.

I gotta laugh at the news stories they are putting out. "well, we were trying to saw the pipe and the saw got stuck". Not their words, but a stupid story regardless. Oil spill + 1. BP 0.

Situations like these show us that corporations that above the law. What you say? A fine? Ha! They'll make that money back in a few weeks. Who ever thought feudalism would make such a strong comeback. There needs to be a law against old white men controlling this planet.

I'm guessing he said "c*mmie". Whoever installed the conservative agenda word censor is himself a c*mmie.

But I agree with Jim, socialism is a great idea, but it doesn't work in practice. Let the markets be and step in only if companies are purposely condoning and carrying out anti-competitive actions.

The Conservation and Natural Resources Commissioner thinks the best method is to us large rocks, which could withstand strong winds etc. The cost can be somewhere around $10 million dollars. It can also take about two months to do but the gap would get narrower once build, and shrinking the room for the oil to pass. They also feel that they can’t delay it, or it won’t do any good.

My only concern is what are we going to do about it then to talk about dynamics of the equation by applying socialism or that consciousness is bull shit. Consciousness is not bull shit; it is an awareness that can prevail through meaningful actions which can be from present to the past for future of similar events which more are yet to come by the way. Without consciousness the world would be in more in threat of extinction. Even the most wealthiest and powerful excessive people know this very well because if you extend to far, it will collapse and nothing is profitable.

Consciousness is considered one of many principles of human survival, in which it has kept us a live so far.

As for socialism, it would be wise to consider focusing what’s best for this mess, so my question is do you all think that this will work in what I posted above or does anyone know of any other way that has been posted on the news from spreading?
