IQ tests! I hate IQ tests that presume to measure one's intelligence by using questions that test trigonometry, English composition, and other subjects of tangible wisdom! I have taken several IQ tests over the years, and I continue to do so from time to time, because it fascinates me to find out how smart (dumb?) I really am.

I took one in college many years ago that took over 2 hours, and it ruled. I scored a 138. Since then, I have taken many online which seem to consistently score me from 130 to 140, so I'm probably right on.

But...I saw one today up on MSN.com that pissed me off...

They had a question like:

It's easier to _______ than it is to lend a helping hand.

A. Lay down
B. Shout insults
C. Walk away

Now I ask you...WTF is that??? How is answering this question going to evaluate my ability to learn. Intelligence has nothing to do with wisdom, contrary to popular belief, and so many of these tests give you equations to figure out, or English grammar errors to fix. These are not indicative of intelligence at all....

So...back to this retarded question: I put A. But...I was wrong...the answer was C. WTF??? It's real easy to lay down! Lend a helping hand with what...flying the Space Shuttle? How gay.

Another question was:
Two cars sitting side by side, drive in opposite directions 5 miles, both take a left, and then drive 8 miles. How far apart are they?

Now this question not only has nothing to do with my ABILITY to learn (the textbook definition of intelligence) but it's full of holes logically! What angle of a turn? 30 degrees? 45? 90? It makes a difference!!!

...I'm just pissed because I only scored a 127 on their gay test.

I've taken I think 7 now...and my average is still above 135, so I'm no dummy....I can prove it! Hehe

I say that because I picked "C", and the reason I picked "C" was because it sounded familiar. Just a thought, BTW, I scored a 3 on the test.

My point exactly HPC. It probably was supposed to be a quote of literary brilliance. My question remains: How the **** does that tell you whether I'm dumb or not? Not knowing this connection does not evaluate my intelligence.

You should be able to find plenty with a google search.

If you find a good one, post it...I like IQ tests...ones that work anyway!

BTW, what is the scale? I mean, if someone gets 100, are they average? Is 150 genius?

51-70 - Intellectually slow
71-110 - Average intelligence
111-120 - Above average
121-130 - Highly intelligent
131-140 - Advanced
141--> up - Genius level

Eh...I think their rating system is a little weak, because 150 is really Genius. Trust me...although I consistently score in the 130's...there is a HUGE difference between that and 150 my man! The questions get really really intense when you get above 130 or so. AND...they are worth less in your final score. It's kind of graded on a bellcurve. My favorites are the spatial reasoning questions and the "blah is to blah as blah is to blah" questions. I love those...they really get the ole noodle going. :)

Numerically, the numbers are close tho...but read nothing into it. I'm a dumbass LOL

I think that question was as simple as realizing that had integer square roots ( or were squares of integers is another way of saying it). I could be wrong though.

Right. He likes 100 not 99 (100=10x10), he likes 2500 not 2400 (2500=50x50), he likes 400 not 300 (400=20x20), so of 900, 1000, 1100, or 1200, you pick 900 because 900=30x30

Everyone at work is taking this IQ test that Hammer first mentioned, and I'm happy to report that all but one person has scored higher than Hammer. You don't need to tell him, DirtGod and I do that roughly 900 times a day. So far four people, plus my boss, a large cockroach that hangs out in our kitchen, and an oak tree have scored higher than Hammer. Actually I lie, my boss didn't take the test. But other than that Hammer is that bottom species on the ol evolutionary ladder that is work....

I still don't think that's a valid IQ test. The "Classical IQ" test at Queendom.com is closer, on which I scored a 134, but I think THAT test is screwed too. I have taken a real IQ test before, and these ain't it. It's a fun test tho.

I normally score between 130 and 140 on past tests, and they have all been similar.
