Believe it or not I am still chugging away with my Core2due quad 2.4 oc'd to 3.1 Ghz. I do however have the GTX480 in it. I have other systems as well but this has been the unit I am always on and do most of my play and work on. Not sure why I have not been motivated these days to upgrade or even play around like I use to but I always like to see what others are running and what they are doing withtheir computers these days.

That stuff used to be in my profile. Maybe it still is -- not seeing it here though. I'm running a Q6600, 3GB ram, 750GB HD, ATI Radeon HD4850 video with passive cooling, and a 24" Dell LCD. Does the job for everything I need. If I'm not using my desktop, I have an old "work" laptop hand-me-down that has become the email/browser/look up things box in our main living area.

At work I'm using a similar desktop setup with a lesser a lesser video card (ATI Radeon HD2400 Pro) and a 20" 4:3 LCD.

system is getting somewhat old, Q8300 @ 3 GHz, 8800GT 512, W7x64, 8GB
overall system works well, although I suppose I could upgrade the video card.

It's still there, but doesn't show up as a link. This was broken when upgrading the forums to version 4. There is a way to fix it, but it's a big pain in the ass to get all the fields set up. Maybe some day I will get to it and get it working again.

We all basically have the same system with a few minor differences. Honestly, is the system really getting old or are ya just itching for something new? Jim, my Brother in law has my old 8800gts and it still runs every game. If I recall the 8800 series had all the hardware for physics built in. Can you confirm that? I saw the 4870 card on sale for 120 bucks at newegg which is a steal. Overall your card is still good IMO. Are you seeing any problems in any specific game?

ive just upgraded a few weeks back now so got 2x gtx460 sonic platinum overclocked versions n ive oc'd them further to 900mhz, the normal version is at 675mhz but palit supply them as 800mhz on the gpu clock paid £185 for each card and im seriously blown away by them and yeah the 8800series has physx capability. that was my old gpu but had no need to keep it seeing as there was no vacant slot for it and the new cards are way better anyways. i still have the dual core amd athlon 7750 but will be upgrading the mobo n cpu in the future although i have just put another 4gb of ddr2 so might wait a while for the upgrades

eh, to be honest the 8800GT is fine. I usually run games @ 1200x1024. Could probably run them higher but no real need to. Yeah, nvidia bought physx company and incorporated it in their drivers. so they run better than cpu but making particles slows down the video card. really it is just a gimmick....
