IMO this is true British comedy. However - it differs from the type of humour folks from the states have. If I were sat watching this with an Amercian, I would expect them to say: "why is that funny?" It is almost an art form and I would suggest that it is a bit like Marmite - you either love it or you hate it.

I am not in anyway speaking derogatively towards Amercians, just merely pointing out that their sense of humour is different. IMO
