Anyone know anything about Proview monitors?

Tiger Direct has this one.

I needed a cheap monitor which gives good pictures and now I have a Proview Monitor (not the one on this website).
I'm very happy with it.
It works fine with the win XP standart drivers because (only problem so far) I can't get original drivers for this monitor which work with XP.
I would buy it again because it's very good for it's price. (imo)

I have a 19" Proview and I can't complain at all. Not the 'best' but you aren't paying top dollar anyway.

Two things I notice:

1. It is not a flat screen. Having used both, you might shop around a little more and see if you can find a model that is flat screen.

2. Viewable area 17.9. Again, many monitors only lose an inch viewable, so shopping around is still my suggestion. This time look for a 19" with 18.0" viewable.

3. (I lied, I know I said two things, but  ) $50 mail in rebate, I hate mail in rebates. Real price $190.

Keep shoping around.
You will be able to find cheaper and better ones for less.
I got mine at wallmart.
Kds flat screen crt .24 dot pitch 18" viewable.
it goes for $148.00 now.

Have to figure in the shipping, of course. Best buy often has returns and the like, if they have an opened box, you can get the warranty, and a big price cut. That monitor has decent specs, kinda low refresh at 1600X1200, but you'll probably run at less, I suppose.
BTW, I recently got a monitor off e-bay, a used 21" Hitachi SuperScan 813, with a 1-year warranty. Where does that rate on the smart-or-dumb-o-meter? (0=really dumb, 10=really smart). I suppoae if it lasts me a good long time, it's a good purchase. It does like 2048, and has a 90Hz refresh at 16X12.

BH, I know the mail-ins are a fuss, but I've done plenty of them, and you can save some loot. I just do them right after I get it up and running, so I don't forget or lose the stuff.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will shop around for a better 19 or maybe a 21!

I've had to repair 2 Proviews for friends in the past year or so. Both times it was one of the transistor that drives the red gun therefore everything looked green. Luckily I was able to order the transistor off the internet from an electronics distributor for $1 each.

and how much did you charge him?? :shifty: Just getting my feet wet in my field of study, electronics boards and repairs aren't cheap at all. Atleast in the industrial setting.
