Ok, first I could join and then when I died, I was forced to a spectator till PB updated. That did it automatically.

Now I continued the map and a few minutes later I got this message:

Server disconnected: You've been kicked via punkbuster (for 2 minutes) CVAR Rate = 3000

What the hell does that mean??

Punk buster is a mod that Quake uses to stop cheaters. You can turn it on from the server menu in Quake I think. Save yourself the trouble and play on the GM server. It's turned off there I think.
