UT Impressions

I must say the demo is pure crap compared to the retail version. I wasn't a HUGE fan of the demo but I am in love with the retail game. The maps are a thousand times better, more skins, weapons, maps...

A highly suggest you buy it. Even those that weren't big fans of the demo.

I would like to buy it, but it keeps crashing on my system?????? I am able to play like for 10 min then I get a general protection fault? Is the full game more stable? I am running XP Pro.

Yeah, the game is very impressive. I hope to see you guys in some servers. I play right now deathmatch only. this is the first time for me to play FPS since I just now got a system t play it on. But yeah, I love it!

not that any of you want to hear it,,, but,,, here is my impressions of UT 2003:
the install program is crap, 8 times to get it installed
LAG, LAG, and more LAG, with a ping of 230, the lag is choppy
I have to "lead" the shots, on SS you just put your x-hairs on them and fire, on UT i have to fire in front of them to hit them.
very low shot effects, no fireworks, no bullet holes on walls
weapons seem "weak"
maps are dark with little details
the redeemer bug
a bug on some of the maps giving me a black screen for like two steps then it comes back, one is in bombing run the snow one, and one in CTF the pryamids

there is more but why bother, I will play it cuz its new, I do like it, and would buy it again, it feels just like UT, no real changes.
I want rocket X, then i will be happy.
It does not come close to SS FE or SE, all the walls are gray, with no details,,,IMHO,,,, see ya in CTF low grav.

First, what connection do you play on? If you have 56k then you need to upgrade to appreciate the game, for games to progress like UT '03 they exceed the quality 56k gives you.

What detail settings are you applying? What kind of Video Card do you use? If yours is decent you should see close to what I am seeing and what I see is extremely detailed.

Besides that I think the game is great! The physics are awesome, the graphics are beautiful and I like the pace of the gameplay. I cant wait for the patch release, it looks to have some things that alot of people were asking for.

quake 4

really.. it feels so much like quake its not even funny. its like they just made quake 3 mod and sold it as a new game.

dont get me wrong it is fun. but i dont think they did a good job keeping it true to the first one.

I also thought it was almost a copy of Quake .. with the huge outfits they wear .. the levels are very similar .. etc ..

I like the game a lot, but 56k players suffer worse lag in UT2k3 then in Sam. The lag is very choppy, you will be in one area of the map one second and then in another area the next, with no idea how you got there. You can't time shots to well because your connection is constantly fluctuating. The game runs super crisp, clean and smooth on my system, when playing offline. So conclusion, do not purchase if you are on dial up modem. The box should say that in the minimum requirements, but they need to make money, so the mentality was, screw the dial ups. Get this the minimum says you only need a 33.6 connection to play. Hah I would like to see someone try. Yes, I would get high speed if it was available, but it aint. :(

If you wouldn't be running a porn server on your sys. too then you probably wouldn't have that problem :mrgreen:
